Mukundente Djasila

One concept we love about coffee is the community it creates. A good cup of coffee always has a great person behind it. Meet Djasila (nicknamed DJ), the Operations Manager at Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee, Rwanda. We love Djasila's passion for helping others, her fun-loving spirit, and sincere heart.

How long have you worked for LTH and what do you do?

"I am the Operations Manager for LTH. I coordinate all the company's activities and coordinate the Do Good Initiative projects we have in the company.  It's now 1.5 years working for LTH."

What do you like about working at LTH?

"I love most the Love and Humanity spirit that is in the company of thinking beyond ourselves and helping people around us with what we have. Also, the knowledge, experience, and networking where I meet many people from whom I learn many things."

What do you hope to accomplish through your work?

"I am hoping to learn a lot about coffee like brewing, roasting, and much more related to coffee. I also hope to develop myself financially through the salary I get from LTH."

What do you do in your free time?

"I love reading books so most of my free time I read, design and do sports."

Who or what inspires you?

"I am inspired by courageous people who run for what they love and never get discouraged by the challenges they get on the way but find a solution to those problems and strive until they accomplish their goals."

What's one of the most memorable moments so far?

"I always have memories in all the trips I do while working but the most that really touched me was when we went to Kiryamo Forgiveness School. I met this woman, Ziphorah, who is a young graduate from Sonrise High School, who has a very generous heart. She said, "I never went to University because I had to take care of small children in Nursery at Bwenda who did not have teachers. I taught them and I think I owe them that because I was also sponsored all my years at school." What amazed me was the fact that she thought beyond herself and did something to help her community with what she has."

DJ, thank you for all of the hard work and dedication that you put into everything you do. Your humility and passion for putting others first is an inspiration to us. We would not have such successful trips to Rwanda without you.

We celebrate you!
