A Fresh Arrival at the Roastery

A Fresh Arrival at the Roastery

A Fresh Arrival at the Roastery

Certain days at the roastery feel different.

The air carries a sense of anticipation. The doors open a little wider. And one by one, large burlap bags of green coffee begin to make their way inside, each one filled with possibility.

Recently, we welcomed one of those shipments.

Pallet after pallet of unroasted coffee arrived, carefully unloaded and stacked, reminding us of the long journey each bag has already taken. From the hills of Rwanda, where farmers have spent seasons tending their trees, to our roastery, where those beans will eventually be transformed into the coffee you brew at home or enjoy in our cafés.

If you had walked through the roastery that day, you would have seen our roast master, Lee, standing among the bags, smiling, taking it in. Because for us, this isn’t just inventory. It’s a relationship.

Why We Buy Differently

In the coffee industry, purchasing is often driven by demand. Companies buy what they need, when they need it. But from the beginning, we’ve tried to approach this differently.

When our partners in Rwanda harvest their coffee, we work to purchase as much as they have available, not just what we predict we can sell.

We do this because coffee is more than a commodity. It’s someone’s livelihood. It represents months or even years of work, care, and patience.

By purchasing coffee at above Fair Trade pricing and committing to buy what our partners produce, we’re helping create stability and opportunity. Farmers can plan, invest in their land, support their families, and continue cultivating coffee for the future.

It’s a simple decision on our end. But it has a lasting impact.

From Hillside to Roastery

Each bag now resting in our roastery carries a story that began far away.

Farmers pruning trees. Harvesting cherries at just the right moment. Carrying them to washing stations. Processing, drying, and sorting. Every step is done with care and craftsmanship.

Now those same beans sit here, waiting for their next stage. Every morning they’re roasted and transformed by heat and time into something rich, expressive, and ready to be shared.

From there, they’ll make their way into our cafés, into your homes, and into the daily rhythms that coffee helps shape.

What This Means for Your Cup

When you drink Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee, you’re tasting something that began long before the roast.

You’re tasting:

  • Relationships built over time
  • Work done with care and intention
  • A commitment to doing business in a way that creates dignity and opportunity

And now, with this new shipment, that story continues.

A Moment Worth Noticing

It’s easy to miss moments like this. A truck arriving. Bags being unloaded. Coffee stacked in a roastery. But when we slow down, we’re reminded that every part of the process matters — and every step is connected.

From the hills of Rwanda to the hands of our roasting team, to the cup you hold each morning.

Thank you for being part of that story.
