Nyirasafari Marie lives in Ruli, close to the Land of a Thousand Hills Coffee washing station. Her dream is to build a fabric business that would make beautiful fabrics easily available to the women in her community.
Twenty-nine year old Marie and her husband are raising three children, whom they are hoping will get a complete education. They have a 7-year-old, a 5-year-old and a new baby.
Marie’s own childhood was torn by tragedy; she is the only remaining member of a family of nine. Her faith and the companionship of her husband have brought healing, and the memory of her parents and six siblings lives in her heart as motivation to be strong for her children.
Marie sees the possibility of a bright future. Her goal is to soon own a cow, which would provide milk, fertilizer, and income for her family and eventually enable her to launch a fabric business. Profits from fabric would be invested back into her community, perhaps as a motorcycle or a flock of goats. She is passionate about the power of business to generate growth for a community and is seeking out the means to begin that journey.
We are inspired by your courage and poise, Marie! Seeing stories of hope come out of Ruli is absolutely why we do what we do!
